Add-on Bluefin tuna
Well, after 9 years I just bought my first bluefin tuna. Dennis and his Dad Dave (our main halibut guys, pictured here) went offshore looking for albacore and bagged one single bluefin tuna fishing hook and line, trolling a madmac mackerel imitation lure at 12 knots, 40 mi offshore in rough seas. There are lots of blue fin in and around our waters this year. Everyone I speak to on the subject--fishermen and biologists alike--inform me that the North Pacific stocks are doing exceedingly well. Anecdotal catch data would indicate that they are right. In any case, this is one fish, caught by a small boat, risking everything on the open ocean. And I personally have no problem supporting these guys. Anyone who wants to lose an argument with me, is welcome to email me on the subject. Everyone else, enjoy!
